The renovation of House Peterson tells the story of a daughter’s love for her dad. When Michelle Peterson reached out to Italtile Clearwater for assistance with the selection of luxury items for a renovation, we presumed it was for her home. We were delighted to discover that our assistance was going to help her reimagine her dad’s house... as a gift and a surprise.
What a great gift. What a great surprise.
The ‘before’ pics presented a house with good bones, so no structural alterations were needed, but Michelle wanted her father to enjoy a little luxury and the finer things in life. She had some ideas about creating a striking, contemporary space with an elegance that wasn’t ‘feminine’ or ‘fussy’. Sales Consultant Dylan Murray took the brief, backed by a great team from the showroom and the warehouse.
Dylan started his mood board with base notes of rich wood, using Moda Vinile - our exclusive new age vinyl ‘timber’ tiles – in mid-toned, ‘ashy’ Ossa. Moda Vinile offers all the good looks of hardwood without the high price tag. It’s an extremely hardwearing tile, and takes a lot of foot traffic, so Dylan envisioned it throughout the house, creating a sense of seamless follow-through and flow from kitchen to living rooms to bedrooms.
Bathroom looks were elevated with a minimalist, neutral yet muscular palette that included a Spanish import - Baltimore Taupe (a granular cement-look tile with an earthy tinge) – and Magnum Silver, an excellent quality local screed compilation tile.
Bathroom finishes in on-trend matt black were selected to ramp up the moody minimalism. These included the Toscana Hibernia Wall-Hung Vanity (another Spanish import), a special order Black Stallion Strapped Mirror, the angular Tivoli Potenza basin mixer, and a range of modern Omega Accessories by Domline.
To pay homage to a dad who has lived through several style eras, Dylan selected the timeless personality of subway tiles to create an iconic feature wall in the open-plan kitchen and dining area.
The result of the tight, conceptual teamwork was a moody, modern space that speaks of luxury. House Peterson, now complete with Italtile style and Michelle’s elegant fabric choices, is packed with personality, talkability and smart, industrial edge.
The House Peterson project was rather special in more ways than one. Firstly, it was a gift from a loving daughter to her dad. And secondly, from our side, the project was ably managed by Italtile Clearwater’s newest Sales Consultant. Dylan Murray is a 2020 University of Pretoria Marketing graduate who was the overall winner of our Italtile Module in Sales and Marketing Competition. With only a few months under his belt on the Clearwater Showroom floor, he is already creating magic for our customers... which is the Italtile Way.
The Italtile Way is how we create memorable customer experiences on the road to beautiful living. While we sell luxury style, it is nothing without superb service, a love for what we do, and attention to detail; a memorable customer experience means we have done our jobs. Home renovation is noisy, disruptive and stressful. No one knows that better than we do. So we were thrilled that Michelle Peterson enjoyed her Italtile experience:
“I would like to thank the following people at your Clearwater branch for their exceptional service and professionalism. Dylan Murray, Donovan Bothma,
Nomathemba Ndlovu (Branch Manager), Abel Nzula, Mfundiso Malotana and Elliot Chauke (Warehouse). All of these wonderful people were such a pleasure to deal with and in future I would not hesitate to go there again. Please extend my gratitude and congratulations for a job well done.”
