The arch has a respected place in architectural history. It was developed around 2000 BC in Mesopotamia and it enabled the creation of taller, larger and ever more complex buildings. Today, in interior design language, the arch is synonymous with gracious classic style. It helps create depth and it has made a sensational comeback as a sought-after feature, adding romantic, nostalgic, old-world charm with its graceful dimensions. Italtile’s magnificent new 800mm x 500mm Chapel Arch Mirror by Affirmations pays homage to this iconic interior feature, with its perfectly simple, pared down design.
Features and benefits of the Chapel Arch Mirror.
As with all Affirmations mirrors, the Chapel Arch Mirror is manufactured in South Africa with UK-made Pilkington Optimirror, a unique, Euro Premium Grade mirror glass renowned for its superb reflective quality, manufactured to exceed standard durability tests for the European Standard EN 1036.
Optimirror has been developed to offer excellent levels of protection to the reflective silver layer without the need for copper and lead used in conventional mirror manufacture. (Lead-free top coat and less than 0.5% lead in the wet basecoat.)
It is also manufactured to resist natural atmospheric corrosion. This higher corrosion resistance also means better levels of protection against chemical action from cleaners and adhesives than you’d get from conventional copper mirrors. The Chapel Arch Mirror has been shaped using CNC cutting (computer-controlled cutting) for a high precision finish.
How to make the most of a space with the Chapel Arch Mirror.
The Affirmations Chapel Arch Mirror with its beautiful classic curve will add softness to an otherwise angular space if placed in a prominent place. Key spaces would be above a console table, a bathroom vanity or a fireplace mantle... or simply hung on its own as a feature in its own right, drawing attention to its classic beauty. It will create a stunning focal point and enhance the ambience of the room. Not just decorative, this mirror will reflect natural light and open up the space, offering eye-catching reflections of room décor.
One of the key interior design techniques most often featured in classic style is the use of the same design element, like a particular shape or colour, repeated multiple times throughout a space. For example, groupings of three vases, three candles... or, in this instance, three Chapel Arch Mirrors. This is called a triptych. Placed side by side on a long wall, the repetition of three Chapel Arch Mirrors will not only create rhythm and harmony in the space, but also encourage talkability!
Installation.
The Chapel Arch Mirror is easy to fit and install. You’ll want to hang your mirror with the centre at average eye height, which is generally around 152cm from the floor.
Should you choose to create the triptych effect with three mirrors, ensure the space between the mirrors is 6 – 10 cm (a smaller room) or 10 – 15 cm (a larger room).
All materials used in Pilkington Optimirror are environmentally friendly, and the manufacturing process is energy efficient and creates less waste. The process also ensures an efficient end of life stage with easier onward recycling. This makes the Affirmations Chapel Arch Mirror an eco-chic choice and it will carry Italtile’s LiveGreen logo.
The Affirmations Chapel Arch Mirror is exclusive to Italtile.
