Spain’s passion for colour and pattern dates back hundreds of years, to a time when local tile-making skills were influenced by the Moors. Many regions had their own distinctive styles, like the area of Valencia, where rustic, hand-painted tiles featured stylistic floral motifs in a repetitive geometric pattern. Delfos by El Barco, Italtile’s new patterned Spanish tile, is a matt ceramic patchwork range that pays homage to Spain’s rich heritage of hand-painted tile-making, sustainably remastered in ceramic.
Delfos is a 200 x 200 x 8mm tile designed to offer a charmingly rustic finish, as the tile is not rectified. With a ceramic body, this is a tile range equally suited to both wall and floor use, and a non-slip rating of R10 ensures a decent slip resistance for added safety if used in bathrooms or kitchens.
The highly stylised geometric and floral motifs have been created in one face to produce a superb repetitive pattern. Delfos is available in neutral Grey and soft Green. Each colourway features subtle pigments against a pale background. The gentle nature of the colours as well as the delicate patterning in both Delfos Grey and Delfos Green offer a layer of beautiful contrasts, whether used as a floor covering or wall surface, without drowning out other décor layers that may be incorporated into your sophisticated classic or contemporary mood board.
