RECENTLY COMPLETED HOUSE TOMSETT II IN WALMER SHOWCASES THE VERSATILITY OF ITALTILE’S SIGNATURE STYLE.
We love to watch the layering and finessing of every residential or commercial reno under our care, and the final reveal never fails to delight. Each project incorporates
Italtile’s signature style to express the myriad of different tastes, personalities and aesthetic preferences. And although similar products may be selected, the end result is different every time.
One of Walmer’s foremost interior design consultants, Courtney Tomsett of Coto Interiors, recently collaborated with Italtile Walmer to bring her clients’ bathroom reno dreams to life: a project that perfectly exemplifies the versatility of Italtile’s signature style.
Ms Tomsett believes that designing with the client in mind, acknowledging and their wants and needs, taking into consideration their lifestyle and interests, respecting their treasured collections of objets d’art and furnishings, is a mindful process that develops the compass that guides her to deliver unique spaces that speak with love about their owners. And so it was with House Tomsett II, our second collaboration with Coto Interiors.
At first glance, the brief was to remodel two bathrooms using Italtile’s high-end, eco-chic products and a carefully layered neutral palette. On closer inspection, though, the project required a more imaginative and nuanced approach. The master bathroom called for a refined, sophisticated aesthetic that would appeal to both husband and wife, with a complex fusion of both graceful and muscular elements, while the second bathroom was envisioned as a feminine sanctuary for the two young daughters, with delicate details.
The bathroom duo project was kickstarted in June 2024. Working closely with Ms Tomsett, Johan Kemper, Italtile Walmer’s Manager, guided the choice of sustainable Cotto Sensation basins and a carefully curated selection of marbled looks, underpinned by a base canvas of polar white. Pretty standard stuff, in the ordinary course of events. Elegance 101, some might say. But, under the creative eyes of Coto Interiors and Johan Kemper, a little contemporary magic was conjured, with a balanced combination of contemporary and traditional elements, to create two entirely different iterations of understated, tranquil marbled elegance.
The master bathroom answers ‘his and hers’ needs with a fusion of masculine and feminine cues that continue the colour theme from the master bedroom, into the dressing room, and opening out into the ensuite with a continuous calming sweep of marbled tiles from floor to wall. The marbled vista is contrasted with a layer of vertically stacked subways, whose fluted effect is elevated by a ribbed rug next to the tub. Eye-catching veining in the marble-look tiles is amplified by rich wood grain, edgy matt black tapware twinned with black framed mirrors, with Cotto Sensation Square basins adding to the sleek silhouette. Moss-hued towels and accessories complete the upscale urban-style sanctuary.
The girls’ bathroom offered Ms Tomsett the opportunity to turn ‘girlish, fairy-tale dreams’ into delicate feminine luxury. She envisioned an ingenious feature wall above an eye-catching double oak vanity topped with twin Cotto Sensation Round Basins. Here she continued the subtly veined flow of gleaming porcelain marble-look tile from the floor onto the wall, and then – a stroke of genius – created a division down the centre with a natural marble flower mosaic, to give each girl her own space. The bath niche repeats the marble flower mosaic. Gold tapware, pink towels and a harmonising striped blind add the finishing touches of prettiness. It’s a bathroom sanctuary that has been designed to grow with the girls, offering lasting graceful femininity rather than faddish girly cutesie-ness.

The House Tomsett II bathroom remodel is the second collaboration with Coto Interiors, and was completed in August 2024. A third exciting Italtile Walmer/Coto Interiors home renovation is in progress and we look forward to revealing the magic in due course.
